I already have an implant, what do I have to take care of?
If you have already had an implant and have had previous therapy, the most important thing is to go for regular check-ups so that the situation around the acceptance of the implant can be monitored. Depending on the quality of the installation, but also on the genetics and the purity of the titanium itself, what the implant is made of depends on whether the implant will be accepted or the body will reject it. What do you need to know when installing dental implants?
The implantation of dental implants varies from case to case. Each case needs to be analyzed and a treatment plan made that begins with a quality CBCT 3D image of the dental region. In order for the dentist to be able to establish an adequate diagnosis and suggest therapy, a specialist in oral surgery and, in more complex cases, an orthodontist should be consulted in order to suggest the best solution for the patient. The procedure of implant placement is simple, but the complete solution to your problem often includes other branches of dentistry, such as prosthetics, orthodontics and oral surgery. Once you have decided on implant therapy, you need to know which implants you will install in yourself and whether the manufacturer is reputable with a tradition so that in 15-20 years you can find spare parts in case of emergency. Prosthetic work is placed on the implants themselves, so for example when installing a permanent dental bridge, a milled bar is installed, on the material of which the quality of the delivered work largely depends. Can dental implants be placed by any dentist?
The implantology course is now available to all dentists and can be taken by any doctor without special specialist knowledge. However, in most cases the implant placement is never ideal and requires adequate pre-treatments such as bone augmentation or sinus lift. If the assessment and diagnosis do not recognize indications as preconditions for implant placement, the patient may be at risk of periimplantitis and subsequent rejection of the implant itself if such procedures are not performed with the utmost care and experience of oral surgery specialists. Implant placement procedure
At each implant placement in the TreeDent practice, you will have 2 examinations, the first of which includes a general dental examination and the second of which includes a specialist examination in case the situation for placement is not ideal. At the TreeDent dental center, a CBCT of the jaw is performed for each implant therapy to determine the implant fit and whether the patient has sufficient bone density at that location. If the bone is resorbed, we will suggest an artificial bone augmentation therapy popular bone augmentation. On the CBCT image, we will also monitor the fit of your sinus so that we can determine whether the implant will end up in the sinus during implantation. If this is the case, we will suggest sinus lift therapy as a necessary pre-treatment. There are 2 types of sinus lift, external which is more complicated and internal which is simpler.
If the tooth is previously extracted, we will check whether there are inflammatory processes above the tooth that have defined the dynamics of the installation. In case there is an inflammatory process over the extracted tooth, before the implant is placed, we will first repair the inflammation and then start the implant therapy.
The installation itself is a painless process lasting about twenty minutes.
After that, the implants are in the process of healing in which the user receives temporary prosthetic work in order to shape the gingiva at the place where the ceramic teeth will go. After healing and implantation in the bone, it is placed final prosthetic work in the form of a bridge crown or prosthesis on implants.
The typical delivery time of your new smile in therapies where dental implants are involved is between 3 and 6 months and it all depends on what procedures were performed on the patient and how the healing process went.
